Cobourg: With everyone so very busy today VAX2GO’s goal is to make its Travel Health service as convenient and painless as possible.

Starting this fall all Vax2go clients will be able to register and book their appointments online! “This move allows many benefits for our clients, says Clinic Manager, Heather Connor, “while it’s convenient the best news is that we will have their records at our fingertips. Travel plans can be very time consuming and we simply wish to remove barriers to receiving proactive health care”. VAX2GO have made plans to go to an electronic health record system, which will offer many benefits to our clients: - Email reminders for appointments and boosters - Easy access to information and records - Pre-registration online that will enable us to prepare information prior your appointment - Convenience of online booking and having us remind you the next time we need to see you Vax2Go currently operates offices in three convenient locations - Cobourg, Lindsay and Bowmanville serving Durham, Northumberland, Peterborough and Victoria County. And for large groups don't forget, you are welcome to book our mobile clinic – we come to you. Details are available on the VAX2GO.ca website. VAX2GO wants your travel plans to be all you expect them to be.

Bowmanville: VAX2GO Travel Health Clinic is pleased to announce that we've got you covered. VAX2GO has opened new Travel Health offices in the Durham Region at Pharmasave Medicine Chest at 221 King St., Bowmanville. A quick visit will set you on your way to safe and enjoyable travel.

“We're very excited about our new location and continued relations with pharmacists Mike Cavanagh and Brad Chmarney”, says VAX2GO Travel Health Physician, Doctor Stephen Connor, “Reaching into Durham was always in the plan and now we can bring our travel health service to Bowmanville”.

“Preparing for a safe adventure requires a bit of planning to ensure your trip is all that you expect it to be”, says VAX2GO principal, Heather Connor, “your health should be of primary concern”. A simple inoculation or series of preventative measures can make or break your business trip or vacation. The cost of simple vaccines pales in comparison to repatriation costs - now in the thousands of dollars. “There is a great website published by the Canadian Government on how best to prepare for a safe and enjoyable trip – Well on Your Way - A Canadian's Guide to Healthy Travel <http://goo.gl/JU4Ggs>”, adds Connor, “once you review it give us VAX2GO a call and we can discuss your needs - often it's simpler than you think”.

Durham patients can now book their Travel Health assessment visits by calling 905-373-0220 or 905-373-0440. Bowmanville office hours are Thursdays from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Professor Josh Felthman with his friend a deadly Allen's Coral Snake

I travel to Costa Rico on an annual basis with students

My personal  area of  interest is conservation, and restoration of the natural environment.

With an acquired and passionate interest in amphibians and reptiles.

I 'm proudly sporting my Vax2Go T-shirt while handling one of Costa Rica's most deadly serpents [snake]; an Allen's Coral Snake !!

Working with these deadly animals is risky !

So, to is visiting the tropics without vaccinations.

All of our students and faculty must be properly informed prior to engaging in international experiences.

That's where Vax2Go  steps in. Heather and her team have provided us with an excellent and convenient in-house  vaccination service since 2010. A potentially complicated and convoluted process becomes as easy as reserving a room and drawing up a schedule for our consultations with Heather and we are literally on our way.

Cobourg – We’ve all seen the television commercials for travel-related diarrhea, hepatitis prevention and skin protection from the sun and that is only the start of rather serious complications that can arise when travelling. Vax2Go was recently changed its name in place of the former Northumberland Travel Health Centre in an effort to call focus to the importance of placing your health at the forefront when making travel plans.

Dr. Steve Connor, medical director, has been practicing medicine for 30 years. He is a graduate of Dalhousie University School of Medicine in Halifax, N.S. He also holds accreditation in Tropical Medicine from Prince Leopold Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp, Belgium. Steve has lived and worked in Africa and India as well as traveled extensively for pleasure.

Heather Connor is a Nurse/Clinic manager and has a Bachelor of Nursing from Dalhousie University and accreditation in Travel Medicine from the International Society of Travel Medicine. She has extensive knowledge of vaccines, which she has gained, with over 25 years of experience and has extensive travel experience.

Together the team is a tour-de-force specializing in preparing individuals and groups for healthy travel. “We both love to travel”, Heather says, “and are committed to helping others reduce risks so that they might experience safe and healthy travel”.

Vax2Go has recently moved to newly renovated offices in the Fleming Building on Elgin Street, Cobourg. On Wednesdays the clinic moves to Lindsay while special clinics can be held for larger industry and school groups.

Other members of our team are our administrative assistants; Deanna Crosty and Bonnie Riley, and Carol Austin who also is a nurse.
